A new build arrived in our design service at exactly the right moment. We were able to explore our spatial findings and open up what was a small tight kitchen with a closed-off scullery into this magnificent design that it became. A mix of materials and elements created a strong statement piece.

The kitchen island in Corian Grey Onyx provides a sculptural centerpiece for the kitchen, dining and living spaces. We wanted to anchor this open plan space with a dark and dense back area where the sexy softness of the island is offset by the deep black. The thickness of the island top on the working side is 50mm all the way along. On the living side, it starts at 600mm and changes to 50mm as it cantilevers off the solid column creating a social zone.
Fenix Oro Cortez was used throughout the kitchen to highlight the strong contemporary lines of this project. The soft champagne metallic was the only material and colour that we wanted to consider for this. It reflects the play of light without overpowering. This is most obvious behind the buffet mesh cabinet. When the doors open up you get the ‘Ohh La La’ moment of the elegant glow of the Fenix Oro Cortez.
The Corian Grey Onyx (which was an indent colour) was chosen for the soft and continuous veining which could be seamlessly matched through the complicated angular detail of the island top.
Corian Deep Nocturne enabled an intense and seamless black backdrop.
